GYS Spring Has SpRUNg Fun Run/Walk 5K, Check in at 7:30 AM, Central School Upper Field. Race at 8 AM. $15/ person, advance registration. Register by April 18 to get a t-shirt. 

The Board of Education has approved the 2025-26 school year calendar.

• Winter Break is planned for December 20, 2025, through January 4, 2026,
• Spring Break is planned for  March 28, 2026, to April 6, 2026.

Walk, Bike, and Roll to School

In coordination with the Glencoe Public Safety Department and the Sustainability Task Force, we offer designated routes for students to travel to school safely. 

Glencoe School District 35 is recommitting to its existing policy aimed at boosting student engagement by minimizing digital distractions.

The Away for the Day initiative requires that all personal electronic devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, be stored in lockers during school hours, except when needed for medical reasons.

This policy, integral to the district’s mission of Growing Every Heart and Mind is designed to foster a focused learning environment free from the interruptions of digital devices.

“Reinforcing this initiative helps minimize distractions and allows our focus to remain on priority learning. We seek to foster classrooms where resilience, empathy, and authentic social interaction are the focus for student development,” explains Dr. Catherine Wang, Superintendent.

As the new school year begins, the district has prioritized clear expectations surrounding the renewed commitment to Away for the Day. Glencoe District 35 looks forward to reporting on the benefits of this initiative to the community at-large, ensuring that both students and parents understand and support the enhanced learning environment.

The following Monday dates are finalized for a one-hour early release from the schools:

• September 16, 2024

• November 18, 2024

• January 13, 2025

• March 10, 2025
