Dear Parents and Community Members: 

As we start the 2024-25 school year, we are excited to share significant updates and initiatives in Glencoe School District 35 that reinforce our commitment to excellence in education. 

This year, we are proud to introduce our revised Strategic Plan, which led to important reflections and fresh initiatives. By engaging with a variety of key stakeholders - including parents, teachers, staff, community members, and students. We have set a clear course for the future, captured by our new mission and vision: Growing Every Heart and Mind. 

We are renewing our commitment to Health and Wellness goals by reinforcing our Away for the Day policy. As part of this, students will turn personal electronic devices off and stow them away in backpacks for the whole school day, fostering a more engaged and socially interactive learning environment. We are also pausing to audit and reflect on our current use of screens in the classroom. This thoughtful approach aims to ensure that the technology usage in our buildings aligns with our priorities. 

Safety and Security remain critical priorities for us. On an annual basis, staff receive building-specific training on emergency response protocols. This includes all teachers, teacher associates, support staff, custodians, and administrators. Glencoe Public Safety Department partners with the schools to do more extensive scenario-based training specific to each school. 

Additionally, our Strategic Plan efforts highlight the importance of strengthening community ties and building mutual trust. This includes celebrating the achievements and contributions of our students, families, teachers, and staff - and fostering open, positive communication across our district. 

We are excited to move forward with these initiatives and look forward to a year filled with learning and growth.
