Placement Process
The next Teacher Institute Day is scheduled for Friday, April 23rd. Staff members will continue the process of grouping students and assigning teachers for the 2010-2011 school year. District 35's placement process considers the academic, social, and personal needs as well as a desire to create balanced classrooms. Placement Letter (More) Music in Our Schools Concert The Central School band and orchestra students joined with the Washburn School students from Winnetka for a joint concert. This has become an annual event for 7th and 8th grade students. The Central School 6th grade band, orchestra, and chorus also performed for 5th and 6th grade students. Joining in this performance were members of the 7th and 8th grade chorus. Congratulations to all of the musicians and staff members.

(More) 2nd Grade Music Program Second grade students performed their annual music program for a standing room only crowd of family and friends. The sports theme was carried through songs and music. Congratulations to Mrs. Wilson, South School Music Teacher, and the second grade students.
(More) Happy Birthday Dr. Suess South School students celebrated Dr. Suess' birthdy. Red and white striped hats were seen in classrooms, halls, the Library Learning Center and South School lunchroom.

(More) Transportation News! We are pleased to announce a simplified bus fee structure, which includes one uniform fee for all riders regardless of distance from school. An improved service plan for Central School students is also included for the 2010-2011 school year.Highlights include: 1-fee for 2-way ridership that can accommodate transportation to/from the Takiff Community Center on days your children opt for these after-school programs. Choose a.m. service and/or p.m. service to best meet your family’s needs. The new Central School p.m. bus service offers a 3:30 p.m. departure time. Note the new lower rate allows you to use this option for your child’s after-school transportation plans. Click here for more details and to register for busing for the 2010-2011 year. (More) Glencoe Haitian Relief Fund Glencoe community members are establishing The Glencoe Haitian Relief Fund for Haitian members of our community to help them support their families in Haiti who were directly affected by the earthquake. The Glencoe Haitian Relief Fund will provide support directly to these families in need through their relatives who work in Glencoe and whom many of us have come to know. One hundred percent of monies collected in Glencoe will go directly to help these Haitian families rebuild their lives. Please contact Kris Kelly (More) No Cell Phone Use While Driving in a School Zone As a reminder: "On August 6, 2009, Governor Quinn signed into law House Bill 71 and House Bill 72. The new laws ban motorists from sending text messages while driving in Illinois, and make it illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction zone or school zone. In addition, it is illegal to compose, send or read text messages, instant messages and e-mail on a cell phone or surf the internet while driving. The ban also includes personal digital assistants and portable or mobile computers, but does not include global positioning systems (GPS) or navigation systems."
