Bricks, Benches and Trees . . . Oh My!!
With the end of the school year upon us the Glencoe Educational Foundation is is offering several options to honor student, teachers and schools. (More) 4th Grade Music Program Fifty years of music to celebrate West School's 50th anniversary was the theme for this year's 4th grade music program. Students sang a variety of song, played the Orff instruments, and accompanied songs with guitars. Congratulations to Ms. Porretta and the fourth grade students on a job well done.
(More) 5th Grade Word Market Fifth grade students have been buying and selling adjectives, adverbs, noun, prepositions, and verbs. In the Word Market project students work in teams to buy and sell words. Planning in advance, they work as a team to purchase words that can be used to create sentences. Mr. ruffino and Ms. Tolzien's students recently set up the community room as a Word Market. ![]() ![]()
(More) 2nd and 7th Grade Buddies Seventh and second grade buddies meet at South School to share lunch and time together reading. The second graders shared a tour of their classroom and read books to their seventh grade buddies. This year-long project was coordinated between second grade teacher, Kristen Cimino, and seventh/eighth grade language arts teacher, Katie Geier. It was a tremendous success and will be continued in future school years. ![]() ![]()

Summer Explorations Website (More) Board of Education Member Applications Accepted It is with sadness and gratitude that the school community bids farewell to Dr. Greg Makoul. Dr. Makoul has resigned his position from the Glencoe School District Board of Education and will be moving out of state with his family. One year remains in Dr. Makoul’s term. The Board of Education is currently accepting applications and will conduct interviews to fill the vacancy created by Dr. Greg Makoul’s resignation. One year remains in Dr. Makoul’s term. The Board will take action to fill this vacancy at the regular monthly meeting scheduled for June 9, 2008. The appointee will begin his/her role as a Board of Education Member at the June 9th meeting. (More) Visual and Performing Arts Central School students displayed their talents at the annual Visual and Performing Arts Open House. Projects in digital design, computer graphics, ceramics, drawing, quilting and painting were on display. Student performances throughout the evening included string, piano, brass, and woodwind solos or ensembles. Community members may tour New Trier's Winnetka campus following each of six remaining Open Community meetings this spring. At each meeting, Superintendent Linda Yonke will update residents on the work of the New Trier Facilities Workshop Committee. If you were unable to attend the registration days, please call the school office at 847-835-6400 to obtain the registration packet. Students must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st. An original birth certificate MUST be presented at the time of registration. In addition, ALL families must provide proof of residency in District #35.
