Glencoe History

How fortunate we are to have the incredible resources of the Glencoe Historical Society (GHS) only a few blocks from Central School.  Our 8th grade Social Studies classes moved their classroom on the road as they visited the hands-on exhibit commemorating the 100th anniversary of the United States entry into World War I.  The GHS exhibit utilized the entire museum campus to highlight the activities of the Glencoe War Emergency Union, an organization formed by the community to coordinate the efforts of residents in support of the troops. Our students engaged in the interactive exhibits and learned details of the 250 men and women who served in World War I.

Special thanks to the Glencoe Historical Society for planning the visit with our team and supporting our students throughout the day. Visit the Glencoe Historical Society website to learn more details of the exhibit and the outstanding work of the Glencoe Historical Society.
