The PARCC Perspective

An Overview of the New PARCC Assessments

What is PARCC?
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop computer-based K–12 assessments in Literacy and Math aligned to the new, more rigorous Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The PARCC assessments have been designed to replace our former state testing known as ISAT.

Frequently Asked Questions from our Parents
Review the most common questions asked of our administrators and teachers.

The PARCC assessments measure a broad range of knowledge and skills, such as reading comprehension, problem-solving and critical thinking essential for success in college and future careers. The questions are more complex and require multiple steps as compared to the former ISAT questions.

Grade 6 and Grade 7 Test Questions as Compared to Former Test Questions

We encourage our parents to visit the practice tests posted on the PARCC website. Over the last year, we have worked diligently to provide staff development to prepare our teachers for the testing format and question samples required within the new PARCC assessment. Additionally, we have planned review sessions to ensure our students are familiar with the tools provided within the online PARCC test experience.
