Tell Me More about the Common Core

An Overview of the Common Core State Standards

What are the Common Core State Standards?
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are a set of high-quality academic standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts/Literacy. The standards help to define what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. It remains the role of individual districts and classroom teachers to design the curriculum and determine instructional approaches to help students reach those standards.

The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live.
