Board of Education Closed Session - March 15, 2010
The Board of Education will meet in Closed Session on March 15, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of self-evaluation with a representative of the Illinois Association of School Boards.
    
Board Meeting Highlights - March 8, 2010
  • President Rob Bailey called the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education to order at 7:30 p.m.
  • The West School Chorus Club and Central School Jazz Band performed in honor of “Music in Our Schools” month.
  • The regular and closed session minutes for February 8, 2010 were approved.
  • There were no comments during the first opportunity in the Board meeting.
  • Several Action Items were moved up in the order of the agenda since the school architect, Colin Marshall, was in attendance. The bid for general contract work at South School and roofing bid at South School were discussed.
  • Mr. Edelheit also discussed the investigation of a green roof at South School.
  • Mr. Edelheit identified the need for Board approval of a building permit application.
  • Mr. Edelheit reviewed the five-year financial projections.
  • Mrs. Wang and the building principals provided updates on Social Emotional Learning.
  • Two Freedom of Information Act requests were received from the following transportation services: Justin Grygiel of First Student, Inc, located in Naperville, Illinois and Debbie Cipkar of Illinois Central School Bus in Channahon, Illinois.
  • Mr. Edelheit reported the End Fund balance for February 2010 as $28,013,691.
  • The Board approved payment of the March 2010 Bills and the Revised Personnel Report was tabled until discussion could occur in closed session.
  • Mr. Edelheit identified that requests for proposals were sent to area landscape services.
  • Mr. Edelheit recommended and the Board approved authorization of a 457(b) Plan for qualifying and interested staff members.
  • Approval was given for revisions to several Board Policies.
  • There were no public comments during the second opportunity.
  • Committee reports included comments by Mrs. Shaw regarding the Glencoe Parent Connection group.
  • The Board adjourned to closed session for the purpose of discussing matters related to personnel.
  • The next regular monthly meeting of the Board is scheduled for April 19, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.

Board of Education Meetings
West School Chorus Club members and Central School Jazz band members performed for the Board of Education and visitors at monthly meeting. March is Music in Our Schools month.







Members of the Glencoe Educational Foundation (GEF) Board were honored by the Board of Education for their contributions to District 35. Also in attendance were major contributors to the GEF Summerfest.





The Board approved resolutions to refinance current bonds.

FUTURE MEETINGS

You are invited to the meetings of the Board of Education. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. at Central School. It will be held in Young Auditorium. Each agenda provides a time for "Public Comments" when citizens may address the Board.
