It's official! The 7/8th grade jazz band has been registered for the New Trier Jazz Fest on February 4th 2012.
More information will follow as it comes in.
The 7/8th grade Central School "Folk" Band has officially started!! Folk band meets on Friday's from 7:40-8:15am.
Folk Band will be working on and performing mostly American folk and bluegrass music along with an occasional Irish piece.
If your student can play guitar, violin, bass, or sing, please join us. We also have ukuleles and mandolins for students to learn on if they'd like to try something different. This is for students who already can play a string instrument.
American folk and bluegrass music is often times forgotten about but is still an important element to the American heritage.
This is a very unique and fun opportunity that isn't offered at most middle schools.
Jazz bands have started and the students are doing a great job already.
6th grade jazz band meets on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:40-8:15am. Right now they are working on songs titled, "Roger the Dodger", "Tyrannosaurus Charlie" and "Rock the House".
7/8th grade jazz band meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:40-8:15am. They are working on songs titled "Sweet and Sassy", "The Preacher Man", and "Blue n' Moody".
We've got some great things lined up already for the jazz bands this year. 7/8th grade jazz band will once again perform at the New Trier Jazz Fest on Saturday February 4th.
