Art Students in Action
Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Results This was the first year that art students from Central School participated in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. There were 797 artists in 7 - 12 grade who submitted 1866 entries to the Multi-state Regional. Central School received four awards. Congratulations to the students listed below... Frieda Greenthal Honorable Mention Drawing Margaret Goinkman Honorable Mention Painting Tom Hayes Honorable Mention Ceramics and Glass Dylan Lederer Silver Key Ceramics and Glass Thank you to all of the students who entered their work. We represented Central School very well. I am proud of you all. 5th Grade Art During their 8 weeks in art 5th graders will complete 3 projects. Students will start out with a basic skills project that focuses on the elements of art. Following that we will create a clay bowl using a coil building technique. Finally students will learn about the printmaking process using a real printing press. 6th Grade Art During second quarter students will learn how to build using slabs of clay. They will use this technique to create decorative boxes. Students will also be creating a high contrast portrait painting. 7th and 8th Grade Sculpture During 2nd quarter Sculpture students will be creating a box, vase or bowl of their choice using recycled newspapers. They will also be creating whimsical figures out of tinfoil, plaster gauze and acryilc paints.
7th and 8th Grade Drawing During 2nd quarter students will be creating an hidden word drawing using a variety of markers, color pencils and stencils.
AM Art Club AM Art will begin Monday August 31st. Am Art Club runs from 7:30 to 8:15 Monday - Friday through out the year. Join us everyday or once a week. Looking forward to seeing you all! |
